Your spreadsheet is probably wrong right now.

A survey of 1,003 U.S. operations professionals found 22% catch a spreadsheet error every day. The average person loses 3.6 hours a week fixing them, more than 22 workdays a year. A single significant mistake runs about $4,315 by the time someone catches it, traces it, and fixes it.

Here's the part that should worry you more. Almost 2 in 5 of those errors never reach leadership. Someone just quietly fixes it and moves on.

Running a business on spreadsheets stitched together by hand rarely fails all at once. It leaks a little every week, and most of that never gets reported because people are used to patching it themselves.

A spreadsheet nobody trusts anymore is usually a symptom. The workflow behind it is the actual problem.
